"An outer body experience"

Immediately, at the start of the course we will dive into the unknown. Not knowing what will come holds the maximum potential and creative energy. And that we need. In the past 10 years Colour Photography course themes varied always from hotel room scenarios to psychoanalysis, from time-space bending experiments to identity theft. But one thread holds them all together to this day. We call it the Construction of Realities. Again this term we will engage in a spellbinding research of ourselves in order to come up with a before unseen visual alphabet that reflects our lives in before unseen relations. A weekly gathering allows us to revisit those moments. We will work with slide film and analogue cameras where possible as this work process lets us understand the mechanics of photography in a more in-depth manner. At a later stage we will investigate the making of a portrait/self-portrait and the presence of a camera. Towards the end of the course we will extract the essence (DNA) of our individual research and write a meticulous and punctilious scenario for a (self) portrait. This will enable us to produce a final image that reflect the precision of our lives in a new and completely unseen manner. The use of the large format camera will again produce a new understanding of the infinite possibilities that the medium of photography has to offer. This one will be intense.
