Media Studies at the AA

 

Media Studies at the AA includes required studio-based courses for First and Second Year undergraduate students. In addition to these courses, Media Studies has now adopted a set of computer laboratory-based courses that focus on the direct instruction of a series of digital applications.

Studio-based courses that are available for Second Year students are open to participation by Third Year students and Fourth Year Diploma students, while laboratory-based courses are open to students throughout the entire school. Together the many classes and special events comprising Media Studies expose students to the work of architects, artists and other practitioners, the innovative skills associated with traditional forms of architectural media and representation, and today’s most experimental forms of information, communication and fabrication technologies. Media Studies emphasises the integration of established techniques in design with the potential of progressive media and production methods.

MS-Intermediate
Course Enrolment

 

Courses for the 2012/13 academic year have now been finalised, and will be introduced to students on Friday 28th September, at 4.00pm in the Lecture Hall. All 2nd Year Intermediate students must attend these presentations, as procedures for course registration will be discussed.
Students that are currently beyond the 2nd year at the school may also register for Media Studies courses.

All MS-Intermediate courses commence Wednesday 3rd October. Check course pages for times and room.

2nd year students are required to enrol and complete one Media Studies course for both the Autumn and Winter terms, thereby completing their MS2 requirements for entry into their 3rd year of studay at the AA.

MS-First Year
Course Enrolment

 

First Year Media Studies courses have now been finalised for the 2012/13 academic year, and will be presented on Friday 28th September, at 12.30pm in the First Year Studio. All First Year students are required to attend, as registration procedures and department guidelines will be discussed.

All MS-First Year courses commence on Tuesday 2nd October. Check course pages for times and room.

First Year students are rquired to complete two MS1 courses in each of the first two terms in order to be eligible to gain entry into the AA Intermediate School.

MS-Lab
Open Enrolment

 

All students at the AA are reminded that Media Studies Lab courses are available. These courses are provided so that students can quickly learn key applications over the course of a single day (courses held on Mondays and Saturdays). As well, students with an existing knowledge in relevant software, may attend these courses to further advance specific techniques.

Unlike MS-Core studio courses, there is no registration process, as seat availability is on a first-come basis.
Please refer to course listing for further information.

Students may request additional courses, as either extensions of existing courses or with the inclusion of new applications for the current year. Requests should be made to the department head.
